Twite Named MAC Scholar Athlete Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Taylor Twite has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Twite, a member of the volleyball team, helped the Falcons to a 2-0 conference record over the past week. The award is shared with Miami's Tara Buroker.
Twite is the third Falcon to earn the award this season. Junior Emily Manser earned the award back on September 29, with senior Melissa Mohr also earning the award back on September 14.
Twite, a native of Lapeer, Michigan (East H.S.), helped the Falcons to wins over Toledo and Northern Illinois last weekend. The senior had a team-high 19 kills and a .400 hitting percentage over the Rockets. She then added 22 kills, .528 hitting percentage and six blocks in the win over the Huskies. For the week, Twite averaged 4.58 kills, 0.92 blocks and hit .422.
Twite, a middle childhood education major, maintains a 3.72 cumulative grade-point average.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the previous week's competition. The winners are selected by one of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
The Falcons (11-7, 4-2 MAC) are scheduled to play tonight (Oct. 14) versus Central Michigan inside Anderson Arena at 7:00 p.m.
