FAIRBORN, Ohio - Tiffany Kramer's goal early in the second half lifted host Wright State University to a 1-0 win over the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team Saturday night (Oct. 30). The non-conference match was held at WSU's Alumni Field.
With the win, the host Raiders improved to 9-7-2 on the season. The Falcons close the regular season with a record of 7-11-2.
Goalkeeper Steph Comisar made four saves to pick up the shutout win. BGSU 'keeper Ali Shingler had seven stops in her complete-match effort.
Kramer's goal, a 35-yard shot into the top left corner, came at the 50:49 mark, with Kim Chianese and Carlin Lucenter picked up assists on the play. WSU outshot the Falcons, 17-8, on the night, including an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.
"It was a very disappointing evening, and an extremely lackluster performance," said BGSU head coach Andy Richards. "The team will have to perform better on Tuesday at Kent State, if they want to have any hope of making headway in the tournament."
A total of 21 different Falcons saw action in the match, as Richards and his staff prepared for the team's upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament match. The Brown and Orange, the eighth seed for the tourney, will travel to Kent, Ohio, to face top-seeded KSU. That quarterfinal-round match will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 2) at the KSU Soccer Field.
