Falcon Hockey Signs Three for 2005-06 Academic Year

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Scott Paluch announced today the signing of three student-athletes for the 2005-06 academic season. The three include Todd McIlrath (Northville, Mich.), Kevin Schmidt (Markham, Ontario), and Russ Sinkewich (Westlake, Ohio).
"We're very happy with our recruiting," Paluch said about his first three recruiting classes here at BGSU. "The players coming through have had good work ethics and a good understanding of the game offensively, which is what we've been talking about the last two and a half years.
"We've wanted to get more creative offensively and recruit players who can get up and down the ice and make plays. Our quickness is improving and it'll continue to improve with the guys we're bringing in."
BGSU is off to its best start in eight seasons with a 6-2-1 record, including 3-2-1 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
Todd McIlrath, Forward, 5-8, 175, born Feb. 27, 1986, Indiana Ice (United States Hockey League)
McIlrath is currently tied for third in the USHL in scoring with 21 points (7g, 14a) in 15 games. Last season he played for the Danville Wings, collecting 8-13--21 in 33 games with 62 penalty minutes.

Kevin Schmidt, Defense, 6-1, 182, born 1986, St. Mikes Buzzers (Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League)
Schmidt has eight goals and 13 assists in 19 games this season for the Buzzers. Last season, Schmidt had 2-26--28 in 47 regular-season games for the Buzzers then added 6-17--23 in 25 playoff games.

St. Michaels Buzzers
Russ Sinkewich, Defense, 6-3, 198, born Sept. 21, 1985, Cornwall Colts (Central Ontario Junior Hockey League)
Sinkewich has one goal and five assists in 20 games this season, including 53 penalty minutes. Last season he played for the Portland Jr. Pirates of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and played high school hockey at Lakewood St. Edward.
