The Opening Tip
The Falcons are in their eighth season under head coach Dan Dakich. Dakich is second all-time at BGSU in winning percentage (.567) and fifth all-time in wins with a 119-91 record.
The Falcons boast a three-game winning streak after defeating Bradley, 81-65, Illinois-Chicago, 63-51, and Detroit, 59-53.
BGSU is the top defensive team in the MAC allowing opponents just 59.5 points per game on 39.2 percent shooting from the field and 19.3% accuracy from long distance. BGSU also is second in the league in field goal percentage (47.9).
The Falcons are 27-3 under Dan Dakich in non-conference games at Anderson Arena.
Senior John Reimold is third in the MAC averaging 17.3 points after his 28-point outburst against Detroit. He made 10 of 13 shots from the floor and six of eight from long distance.
Senior Josh Almanson is fifth in the MAC averaging 16.5 points and was named MAC West Player of the Week and the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week after averaging 19.5 points in BGSU's two wins against Bradley and UIC. He has scored in double figures in four straight games for the first time in his career.
Junior Steven Wright is averaging 13.5 points and is second in the league in field goal percentage making 60% of his shots.
Freshman Scott Vandermeer is third in the league in blocked shots averaging 1.5 per game.
In the first four games, BGSU has outscored the opposition 54-20 in the first seven minutes of the game.
With the win at Detroit, BGSU snapped a 48-year long streak at Calihan Hall (11 games) and won a non-conference road game on an opponents home floor for the first time since beating Indiana State in 2001 (8 games).
Long-time Bluffton head coach Guy Neal is a 1982 BGSU graduate who played three years for the Falcons and later served as a graduate assistant.
The Beavers are 3-3 and are a member of the Heartland Conference. They are coming off a 74-64 loss at Adrian.
Junior guard Scott Bergman is the top scorer averaging 20.3 points per game. Junior center Eric Sweet is averaging 11.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.
BGSU has won 19 straight against non-Division I opponents since the 1991-92 season.
BGSU and Bluffton will meet for the first time since December 5, 1949.
