Lonely, Lonesome Highway, East of Omaha
The Falcons head to Omaha this weekend for a two-game series against the University of Nebraska-Omaha (Feb. 6-7) at the Qwest Center Omaha. Faceoff for Friday's game is scheduled for 8:05 EST while Saturday's game-time has been moved back to 9:05 EST. Both games can be heard on 88.1 FM with play-by-play announcer Andy Evans.
BGSU at Nebraska-Omaha
BGSU travels to Omaha, Nebraska to take on the Mavericks of UNO. The weekend series will end a 36-day period in which the Falcons have been to Minnesota-Duluth (Jan. 2-3), Alaska Fairbanks (Jan. 23-24) and now Omaha. BGSU is 4-8-1 against UNO, including a 3-6-0 road record and 1-2-1 home record. BGSU is 1-5-1 over the last six games with the one win being a 5-0 shutout at UNO last season.
Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks
UNO is in its first season of playing in the brand new Qwest Center Omaha with a seating capacity of 14,700. The Mavericks are one spot back of the Falcons in the CCHA standings with 11 points and a 4-13-3 league record. Head coach Mike Kemp (Gustavus Adolphus '75) is in his eighth season with the Mavericks and has a 101-127-25 record. UNO is paced by senior defenseman Mike Gabinet who has 4-14--18 in 26 games.
More Times Than Not, PPGs Mean Wins
BGSU lost just its third game of the season when scoring a power-play goal when it lost 4-3 to #15 Ohio State on Jan. 31. The Falcons are now 7-3-4 when they score a power-play goal.
Frazee Makes Debut In Net
SO goalie Bob Frazee made his collegiate debut on Jan. 31 vs. #15 Ohio State, stopping 25 of 28 shots faced in 48:49 minutes of action. He helped the Falcons hold OSU's power play to 1-for-7 on the night. Frazee was called into action when JR Jordan Sigalet was injured at 10:05 of the first period.
Fans In the Stands vs. Ohio State
A crowd of 4,210 was in attendance for Saturday's 4-3 loss to #15 Ohio State. It was the largest crowd at the BGSU Ice Arena in nearly five years when 4,248 watched the Falcons defeat Michigan on Dec. 3, 1999 (4-2).
Brew Improves Career-Best Point Streak
JR Steve Brudzewski improved his current career-best point streak to four games and his goal streak to three games with a PPG on Saturday vs. #15 Ohio State. Brudzewski has registered 4-2--6 in the last four games. His PPG goal was his ninth goal of the season and ties him for the team lead.
Pilkington Improves Point Streak
SO Brett Pilkington raised his current point streak to a career-best four games with an assist on BGSU's first goal of the game. Pilkington now has 1-3--4 in his last four games.
