Falcons Place Second In BG Invite

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - In their final home meet of the 2004 indoor season, the Bowling Green State University track and field squad placed second in the BG Invite with 180 points Friday night inside the Perry Field House. Central Michigan claimed first with 217 points, with Detroit-Mercy, 79, IPFW, 35 and Heidelberg, 24 rounding out the top five.
Freshman Jessica White and senior Alicia Taylor captured first-place finishes in the sprints. White used a 25.64 in the 200-meters, edging out two CMU sprinters to capture first-place. Taylor established a new BGSU record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.52, taking home top honors.
The middle distance runners were not to be out done, with first-place finishes by freshman Ashley Tukes and junior Melissa Krueger. Tukes posted a 1:38.80 in the 600-meters, while Krueger recorded a season-best 2:16.50 in the 800-meters.
Senior Amber Culp continued to impress in the 3,000-meterss, as she posted a time of 10:25.54, good enough for another Falcon first-place finish.
With a jump of 5.85 meters freshman Erica Wilson took home her first career BGSU first-place finish in the long jump.
The Falcons return to action on Valentine's Day when they travel to Findlay, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Championships on February 14. The meet is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
