Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green junior goalie Jordan Sigalet was tabbed Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Sigalet helped the Falcons get three-of-four points from visiting Northern Michigan this past weekend.
Sigalet recorded 40-plus saves for the 14th career time with 42 saves in a 2-1 win over NMU on Feb. 27. He then appeared in his 11th overtime game this season and shutout his opponent for the 10th time in the extra session with a 2-2 tie on Saturday. He finished with 66 saves on 69 shots faced (.957 save pct.) and a 1.44 gaa. in 125:00 minutes of work against the Wildcats for the weekend. Sigalet also held NMU to 0-for-6 on power play attempts in the two games.
Over the weekend, Sigalet became just the fourth Falcon ever to record over 1,000 saves in a season and now has 1,063 stops in 35 games (30.4 pg.). He leads the nation in saves and is just 24 saves away from the BGSU single-season record of 1,087 saves set by Tyler Masters in 2000-01.
