Falcons Open Outdoor Season With Seventh Place Finish At Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Bowling Green State University track & field team traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, over the weekend to compete in the Alabama Relays and returned home with a seventh place finish scoring 19 points. Alabama placed first with 54 points, outscoring 15 other schools.
Senior Amber Culp posted an Alabama Relays record of 10:58.55 in the steeplechase and nearly recorded a NCAA qualifying mark of 10:57.18. Junior Niki Suitor placed fourth in the same event with a time of 11:42.66.
Coming off her 60-meter hurdle MAC Championship, senior Alicia Taylor placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14:44.
Several freshmen had impressive outdoor debuts. Andrean Bunko placed fourth in the javelin with a distance of 38.62 meters, Lyndi Springer posted a time of 1:05.58 in the 400-meter hurdles and Veronica Vance placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.17 meters.
The Falcons return to action on April 3, when they will compete at the Bluffton Invite. The meet is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
