Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green defenseman Jonathan Sigalet recently spoke to Mike Eidelbes of InsideCollegeHockey.com about his decision not to opt into this weekend's National Hockey League draft, being held in Raleigh, N.C.
Sigalet, who completed his freshman season this year for the Falcons, finished with 15 points (3g, 12a) in 37 games on the blueline with 26 PIM. The 6-foot, 170-pound British Columbia native was named CCHA All-Rookie Honorable Mention and played this past April for Canada in the IHF World Under-18 Hockey Championships in Belarus.
The NCAA decided this past spring to grant a one-year waiver to its rule that forced college players who opted into the NHL Draft (due to certain dates of birth) to give up their remaining eligibility. Sigalet fell into this category.
