Falcon Notes for Upcoming Season...
* Undo the ties in 2004-05 will be something the Falcons will be aiming for as BGSU tied a school record with 11 overtime games a year ago, and established a new record with nine ties. The Falcons were 1-1-9 in OT games in 2003-04.
* The Farrelly Brothers' movie success has nothing on the Sigalets on the ice. The brother duo of Jordan and Jonathan Sigalet made a big impact last season for the Falcons. Jordan led the nation in saves (1,140) and shots faced (1,241) while registering a .919 save percentage in 37 games. Jonathan played on BGSU's top defense pairing and led all Falcon freshmen with 15 points (3g, 12a), earning All-CCHA Rookie Honorable Mention.
* BGSU had many close shaves in 2003-04 with 27 of 38 games decided by two goals or less. The Falcons were 8-10-9 in those games, including 4-1-3 over the final six weeks of the season.
* JR Jordan Sigalet enters his final collegiate season as the all-time leader at BGSU with a .914 career save pct., and is second all-time with a career 3.02 gaa. A year ago he set a new Falcon record with 1,140 saves (1st nationally) while posting a .919 save pct. (16th nationally) and a 2.74 gaa.
* JR Bryan Dobek is the first second-generation Falcon to wear the Brown and Orange in the 35-year history of the program. Dobek is the son of former 1976 United States Olympian Bob Dobek. This season the younger Dobek is changing his sweater number to #7, which the elder Dobek wore from 1972-75 for BGSU.
* BGSU's incoming class of nine (six forwards, two defensemen, one goalie) averages 6-foot-1/2 and 186 pounds. The Falcons' roster a year ago averaged 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds.
* Jonathan and Jordan Sigalet are the fourth brother combination to wear the Brown and Orange. Previous brothers to skate for the Falcons have been Bill, Bruce, and Tom Newton; Dan and Scott Bylsma; and Brad and Brian Holzinger. All three Newton brothers played together during the 1978-79 season and the Holzinger brothers played together in the 1994-95 season. The Bylsma's were never teammates.
* Former Division III Second-Team All-American Mike Tarantino will serve as BGSU's volunteer assistant coach this season. Tarantino played four seasons for former Falcon Wayne Wilson at Rochester Institute of Technology, who co-captained the Falcons' 1984 National Championship team. Besides earning All-America honors last year, Tarantino was named ECAC West Co-Player of the Year and first-team All-ECAC West.
*BGSU will have three captains this season, including senior netminder Jordan Sigalet and senior forwards Ryan Minnabarriet and Alex Rogosheske. Sigalet is the first goalie in Falcon history to be named a captain.
* JR goalie Bob Frazee recorded his first career victory in his first career start for the Falcons on March 4, 2003, at Western Michigan. Frazee stopped 34 of 38 shots faced in a 6-4 victory in the regular-season finale for BGSU.
* SR Ryan Minnabarriet ended last season by recording 12 of his 20 points in the final 15 games of the season (4g, 8a). His 14 total assists last year surpassed his previous two years combined.
