80th ANNUAL EAST/WEST SHRINE GAME JANUARY 15, 2005
POSTGAME NOTES
The 45 points scored by the East today represented the most scored by either squad since the East tallied 56 points in the 1979 Game.
The 18-point margin of victory for the East was it's largest since defeating the West by a 24-6 final in 1989.
Despite not entering the game until the 2nd quarter, Louisville QB Stefan LeFors tied the Shrine Game record with 3 TD passes en route to Offensive MVP honors. LeFors' effort was the 7th of its kind in Shrine Game history; the other signal-callers to throw for 3 scores were: Notre Dame's Daryle Lamonica (East 1962), TCU's Sonny Gibbs (West 1962), Washington's Ted Hullin (West 1965), North Carolina's Danny Talbott (East 1966), San Jose State's Jeff Garcia (West 1994) and California's Dave Barr (West 1995).
Despite losing today, the West still holds a 3-2 advantage in the 5 games held at SBC Park, and a 42-33-5 overall edge.
