Falcons' Feb. 5 Game at Toledo to be Televised

CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team's game against the University of Toledo on Feb. 5, 2006, is part of the Mid-American Conference's 15-game television package. The arch-rivals will do battle on the first MAC Television Game of the Week of the 2005-06 season. MAC Commissioner Rick Chryst announced a 15-game television package on Wednesday (Oct. 26), at the MAC Women's Basketball Media Day at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Cleveland.
The Falcons and Rockets will meet in a 4:00 p.m. contest at UT's John F. Savage Hall. Anticipated MAC Game of the Week affiliates include Fox Sports Net Ohio, Comcast Local (Michigan), CSN Chicago and Adelphia 13 (Buffalo).
BGSU potentially could appear on television several more times under the MAC's TV package, which includes three MAC Tournament games at Quicken Loans (formerly Gund) Arena in Cleveland. The two league tourney semifinal contests on March 10 and the championship game on March 11 each will be aired. Last season, the Falcons' regular-season win over Ohio, as well as BG's tourney triumphs over Eastern Michigan (semifinal) and Kent State (championship), all were televised as part of the league package.
The 2005-06 season marks the second consecutive year that at least 15 MAC women's basketball games will be televised. Seven of the games will air on FSN Ohio, with Ball State at Ohio tipping off the television package on Jan. 31. The MAC Game of the Week begins on Feb. 5 with the BGSU-UT game, and also features Miami at Eastern Michigan (Feb. 11) and Kent State at Akron (Feb. 18).
Comcast Local, in addition to airing the MAC Game of the Week, will produce eight MAC competitions involving teams from the state of Michigan.
It is anticipated that BCSN will televise several BG games in 2005-06, with those games to be announced at a later date.
The complete schedule follows. The MAC men's basketball schedule will be released on Thursday (Oct. 27).
