Head Coach Denise Van De Walle's 700th career match did not turn out how she would have liked, it was also the last time the Falcons played Eastern Michigan.
BGSU dropped the first two games before capturing a game-three win. However, the Eagles rebounded in game four and ended the match 3-1.
Falcons Send Kent State Home
Bowling Green dominated the match, hitting .424 during the offensive onslaught. Four different Falcons recorded double-digit kills in the big win.
Bowling Green's two seniors knew this could be their last match, but they made sure it wasn't. Seniors Ashlei Nofzinger (6-0-6) and Emily Manser (5-0-7) recorded 11 kills on just 13 swings with no errors to take a game-one win, 30-22.
Junior captain Chrissy Gothke simply took over with the score knotted at 17-17 in game-two, belting a kill for the side-out before preceding to serve the next ten points to give the Brown and Orange a 27-17 advantage, taking the game 30-19.
The Bowling Green defense stiffened up in game three with three team blocks and 21 digs in the 30-19 win that punched their ticket the MAC tournament quarterfinals.
Meek Reaches Top Five
Freshman Chelsey Meek is putting together one of the best defensive seasons in Falcon history. With 18 digs against #20 Ohio on Nov. 12, Meek surpassed Angellette Love's 424 (1992) digs in one season, slotting her fifth best in Bowling Green history. Teammate Chrissy Gothke currently holds the record for most digs in a season with 497, which she accomplished as a freshman in 2003. Meek has totaled 448 digs this season.
Meek's 4.15 digs per game is currently the best digs average in school history.
