Yee Sets Personal Best, Falcons Place Three in Top Ten

COLUMBUS, Ohio - In their first round at the Ohio State Invitational the Falcons scored five times in the nine final events. Alisha Yee's sixth place finish in the 200 IM set a new personal best for the freshman with a time of 2:06.16.
Senior Stephanie Buckner also scored in her solo event by placing seventeenth in the 50 Free. Buckner finished the sprint event in 24.22.
The Falcon relays, which are a concentration point this season, had a strong competition day placing two in the top ten. The 400 Medley Relay consisting of Dana Schultz, Kara Ohngren, Yee and Buckner took seventh in 3:52.25 while the 200 Free Relay placed ninth. The Free Relay run by Sami Jordan, Jessica Guinness, Schultz and Buckner was finished in 1:36.75.
Also placing in the 400 Medley was the combination of Michael Carriaga, Jennifer Betts, Jordan and Guinness who edged into twelfth with a time of 3:59.27.
Second day action will begin with the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM and sprint races in all events. The women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter diving competition and the 800 Free Relay will conclude the schedule.
The events will commence with the preliminary round for the swimmers beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by the divers at 1:00 p.m. Final rounds for swimming and diving will begin at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively.
