on surpassing 1,000 career points...
"People had told me I was getting close, you don't think about that. John (Reimold) got it earlier and we won a game on the road, I get it later and we win a game on the road. I don't think it means as much if you don't win the game."
"Five years ago (Anthony) Stacey broke the scoring record in a win over Kent at home, (Dave) Estercamp went over 1,000 in a win over Kent at home so I anytime you go over 1,000 points, you want to get a win too."
"I think the experience from the Ohio game and the Akron game back-to-back where we were winning and just lost it down the stretch with bad plays. We've worked at that in practice and we showed that we could hold on and play well down the stretch and that was really important to our team."
"Coach (Dakich) told us that that is their run and make sure that it is all they get. And just to keep continuing to play our game because we had played well up to that point and we played well afterwards."
"They were guarding John (Reimold) pretty tight and they weren't leaving him. He was setting screens and it allowed me to get a look at the basket and we were able to play out of it."
"We've overcome a lot. You couldn't even hear in our locker room because of loud wrestlers in the shower that is attached. We overcame a lot in this game. I thought our team could've folded up three different times and we didn't. I thought we played really hard, I thought we played really well. Through the entire basketball game we kept our wits about us, kept our poise and it was a good win for us."
"I just think that Jim Christian and Kent obviously do a great job and for us to come over here and get a win after our game Wednesday night, I think it shows the mental of our team and I'm really proud of them."
"We didn't get a handle on (Kevin) Warzynski the whole half. He's a good player. But I felt like going in the key was getting a handle on (DeAndre) Haynes. I mean, Haynes and his family probably send a limo to make sure we get to the game ontime with as much success as he's had against us. He got the first five points of the game and we took Steven (Wright) out and put Moon (Perrick Robinson) in because if we were going to lose, we were at least going to lose the way I wanted to play. I thought Moon came in and gave us a heck of a deal in the first half defensively. I think he was a big reason Warzynski didn't score in the first half. He was digging in on the post along with Scott's (Vandermeer) length and size. Then in the second half, we were just late getting out on him a few times. But I thought at the end, obviously our defensive did a great job. Other than the three (Jason) Edwin hit." ...Other than that, at the end of the game, our defense was really, really good and tough and Cory Eyink was a big part of it. I thought Cory did a great job."
on Josh's milestone night...
"A couple years ago I told him, would you quit worrying about scoring, you're going to score 1,000 points in your career and I am really proud that he did because he's overcome a lot of things. He hasn't been healthy until this year, he wasn't really healthy last year and obviously the year before and he's just really been such a great kid and such a great role-model to the kids from Bowling Green, in Bowling Green and everywhere else. 1,000 points, I think, is a great deal to do in college. I think there is a big difference between 999 and 1,000. I don't know what it is, I just know it when I see it... I'm proud of him. I like those kinds of things. I like records, I like milestones, I think they're a big part of sports."
Kent State Head Coach Jim Christian
"He's (Almanson) just a great offensive player. He understands how to score and he's such a hard match-up for bigger guys because he can take them out on the floor, drive it, hit pull up jumpshots, post and he played a tremendous game today. He and Reimold were as good as we knew they would be."
