Recap | Final Stats | Notes
UALR Head Coach Steve Shields
"Obviously, all the respect in the world for Dan Dakich and his staff and the brand of basketball they play. We knew we were going to face a very, very tough and physical basketball team today and I thought they set the tone early in the game with their defensive mentality and their aggressiveness and ability to set good, crisp screens."
"On top of that, I was really proud of our guys and the way we showed a lot of grit and determination getting back into the game. That is what our guys are made of and I'm proud of them from that stand point."
on John Reimold...
"He really was (huge). I thought that we lost him several times. He was big. I mean, he is a great player. You look at Almanson and Reimold both. We knew going in that you're not going to completely stop those guys but you've got to make an attempt to contain them."
BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"I'm not sure that is the best best basketball team we've played in here but it is in the top two or three if not the best. I thought going in and watching them, they were as athletic as anybody we've played, as well coached as anybody we've played and as hot as anybody we've played. So to get a win, I think says a lot about our kids and our basketball team. I'm proud that we were able to come back and win but a little bit upset that we had a 20-point lead at home, playing pretty well and let the whole thing go away. Sometimes we can't stand prosperity. That was a heck of a basketball team and we're just happy to get a win."
"They (UALR) are well coached. They're tough, really tough. They don't pout, they play harder and that makes this a good win."
"Josh (Almanson) has just become a tough guy. He wants to win. He's always being a great kid, a hard worker but he just has insides to come out and play games and start games like that but also has insides to complete them too. I thought he got us off to an unbelievable start."
"I thought we got good play from (Matt) Lefeld, I thought we got good play from Austin (Montgomery) again."
"It was a pretty good team win but we're going to have to get better to get done what we need to get done."
on Reimold scoring...
"In the second half, a lot of it is experience, a lot of it is talent and a lot of it is just sheer desire to win."
on Reimold and Almanson...
"They bailed us out. To tell you the truth like the All- Americans that they've been. I've never said that about them but that is what they've been. If college basketball was even acrossed the board in terms of people choosing teams based on reality and not television and not perspective, those two would be All-Americans and tonight they were great."
