Falcons Ready For MAC Indoor Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team, fresh off a fourth-place finish at the All-Ohio Championships two weeks ago, travel to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, to compete in the 2005 MAC Indoor Championships this weekend (Feb 25-26).

In the sprint and hurdle events, Jessica White ranks third in the MAC with a 7.57 in the 60-meters, a school record. Senior Valerie Holland is tied with White for the 60-meter school record, and finished fourth at last year's championship.
White will be joined by senior Amber Walker in the 200-meters for the Falcons. White ranks 12th in the MAC with a personal-best time of 24.90, while Walker finished fourth at the MAC Championships last season with a time of 25.28.
Sophomore Nicole Standback is the top Falcon competing in the 60-meter hurdles. She has two first-place finishes this season (BGSU Quintangular and Saginaw Valley), including a personal-best time of 8.76, which ranks eighth in the MAC.
The distance runners have the opportunity to score several points for the Brown and Orange this weekend. Freshman Jamie Roflow ranks fourth in the MAC in the 5,000-meters (17:23.87) and seventh in the 3,000-meters (9:59.08). Freshman Stephanie Hillman ranks 12th in the MAC in the 5K with a personal-best time of 17:57.25.
Erica Wilson will lead the pack in the jumps. Wilson finished fifth in the long jump and high jump at last year's MAC Championships, and ranks sixth (5-07) in the high jump and 12th (18-06) in the long jump this year. Fellow sophomore Veronica Vance ranks 11th in the triple jump (38-01.50) and 15th in the long jump (18-02.75).
Senior Kerri McClung has finished first in the shot put in every meet she has competed in this season. She ranks first in the MAC with a career-best 50-10. Sophomore Paris Bussey ranks 14th in the MAC with a toss of 51-10.50 as the top Falcon performer in the weight throw.
