Falcons Have Home-and-Home Series vs. Michigan State (Feb. 25-26)
BGSU has a home-and-home series with Michigan State this weekend, first hosting the Spartans on Friday (7:05 p.m.) then travelling to East Lansing on Saturday night (7:35 p.m.). The Falcons have just two regular-season home games remaining, this Friday vs. MSU and next Friday, March 4, vs. CCHA-leading Michigan.
Broadcast Notes: Friday's game is being telecasted tape-delay by BCSN (Buckeye Cable Sports Network). Saturday's game will be broadcasted LIVE on FoxSports Detroit with play-by-play from Ken Daniels, commentary by Fred Pletsch, and rink-side reporting from Shireen Saski. The game will be broadcasted tape-delay at 11 p.m. EST on FoxSports Ohio later that night.
Falcons vs. Spartans
MSU leads the overall series, 58-25-8. BGSU snapped a seven-game losing streak at Munn Ice Arena on Dec. 3, 2004, with a 2-1 victory. Seven of the last eight matchups have been decided by two goals or less. The Falcons are 9-30-3 all-time in East Lansing and 14-21-5 at home against the Spartans.
MS Awareness Weekend Raises $10,652.67
MS Awareness Weekend at the Ice Arena raised over $10,000 last weekend (Feb. 18-20). The event, spearheaded by SR Jordan Sigalet, spanned over a two-game series with Western Michigan and the annual "Skate With the Falcons" on Sunday. Prior to this Friday's game vs. Michigan State, Sigalet will present a check for $10,652.67 to the Northwestern Ohio MS Society.
McPhee and Holzinger to be Presented Hobey Baker Memorial Rings on March 4
Former Falcons George McPhee and Brian Holzinger will be presented with Hobey Baker Memorial Rings during the first intermission of the March 4 game against Michigan. McPhee and Holzinger are two of just 25 winners of the award given annually since 1981 to the top collegiate hockey player. McPhee won the award in 1982 while Holzinger captured the award in 1995.
One Win Equals Home Ice for Falcons
One victory (equalling two points) over the last four games would secure BGSU home ice for the CCHA Playoffs for the first time in 10 years! Two ties (equalling two points) would require some help from other teams. The last time the Falcons were home for the playoffs was March 10-11, 1995, when they swept Notre Dame (7-2 and 5-4).
