Ali Mann Named to Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University sophomore Ali Mann has been named to the 2005 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Team, the league office announced Thursday (March 17). The team is the result of voting by the league's faculty athletic representatives.

Mann, a physical education teacher education major, maintains a cumulative grade-point average of 3.31. She is joined by Akron's Jessie Crooks, Ball State's Kelsey Corbin and Kate Endress, Central Michigan's Erin Kuhl and Casey Manning, Eastern Michigan's Erika Ford and Sarah VanMetre, Kent State's Lindsay Shearer, Ohio's Liz Brown and Western Michigan's Carrie Moore.
Earlier in the month on Mar. 3, Endress earned first-team Academic All-America honors, while Shearer copped second-team accolades. In addition, Endress was also tabbed the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the Year. On the court, Endress, Shearer and Moore earned first-team all-conference laurels, with Endress being named the MAC Player of the Year. Mann was named to the second-team, while Ford garnered third-team all-league mention.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
