BGSU Hockey Announces Three Additions to 2005-06 Class

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Scott Paluch has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the 2005-06 recruiting class. The three include Brian Bales (Anchorage, Alaska), Jimmy Spratt (Chesterfield, Mich.) and Brandon Svendsen (Roseville, Minn.)
All three will be competing in the upcoming United States Hockey League Clark Cup finals, which begin this Friday, April 29. Bales and Spratt play for the Western Conference Champion Sioux City Musketeers, while Svendsen plays for the Eastern Conference Champion Cedar Rapids Roughriders.
They join Todd McIlrath (forward, Northville, Mich.), Kevin Schmidt (defense, Markham, Ontario), and Russ Sinkewich (defense, Westlake, Ohio) who signed this past fall during the early signing period.

Bales has played three seasons for the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League. This regular season, he tallied 20 goals and 41 assists and was plus-31 in 54 games played. He also netted seven GWGs, five PPGs, and two SHGs to go along with 16 PIM. His 41 assists and plus-31 rating were team-highs, while was tied for the team lead with 61 points and seven GWGs. So far in eight playoffs, Bales leads his team with 7-7--14 with two PPGs. He recorded 10-14--24 in 52 games in 2003-04 and had 11-7--18 in 48 games in 2002-03 for the Musketeers.

Sioux City Musketeers
Jimmy Spratt, goalie, 6-1, 175, born Nov. 10, 1985, Sioux City Musketeers (United States Hockey League)
Spratt is a 2004, 7th-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames. He has a 24-11 record with a 2.81 gaa. and .909 save pct. He has two shutouts this season, including one in the playoffs where he is 6-2 with a 2.39 gaa. and .919 save pct.
In 2003-04, he was 19-6 with a 2.34 gaa. and .918 save pct., and in 2002-03 he was 6-6 with a 3.25 gaa. and .908 save pct.

The Minnesota native ended the 2004-05 regular season with 19-26--45 in 60 games with 27 PIM and a plus-17 rating. He also tallied five PPGs, four GWGs, and three SHGs in his first season with the Roughriders. In six playoff games, Svendsen has 3-2--5 and is plus-7. In 2003-04, he was the third-leading scorer for the Fargo-Moorhead Jets of the North American Hockey League.
