BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team, having wrapped up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a .500 record, dives into Mid-American Conference play this weekend ... the Falcons of head coach Andy Richards (4-4-0) will continue a five-match road swing with a Friday (Sept. 23) match vs. Northern Illinois University ... kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. locally (5:00 p.m. Eastern) at Huskie Soccer Field ... then, BGSU will meet Western Michigan in Sunday action (Sept. 25), with that match beginning at noon at the WMU Soccer Complex.
LAST WEEKEND
The Falcons split a pair of matches over the weekend ... on Friday (Sept. 16), BGSU matched the goal total for the season's first six matches, with a 6-0 win over visiting Cleveland State ... on Sunday (Sept. 18), a pair of second-half goals, coming just 18 seconds apart, lifted host Indiana over the Falcons, 2-0.
TRUNDLE SETS ASSIST RECORD
Senior Julie Trundle has broken the BGSU record for career assists ... her corner kick against Cleveland State found the head of freshman Corbie Yee, who headed it home for the Falcons' second goal of the day ... the assist was the 26th of Trundle's BGSU tenure ... she moved past Jill Conover, who had a total of 25 assists from 1999-2002 ... Trundle, a native of Medina, Ohio, ranks sixth in school history in scoring, with 46 career points.
NON-LEAGUE RECORD NOT BAD
The Falcons finished the non-conference portion of the 2005 season with a record of 4-4-0 ... the win total matches BGSU's total for the previous two seasons combined ... the Brown and Orange went just 2-6-0 in regular-season, non-league play a year ago, and had the same mark in such matches in the 2003 season ... the 2001 squad had the best record in school history in non-league play, going 5-1-1, while last year's mark tied for BG's worst ever ... ironically, that '01 squad finished just 7-10-2, while last season's team rallied to win the MAC Tournament title and advance to the NCAA Championships.
