Miami is led by a three-headed monster on the offensive side of the net. Carli Reihman, Emily Schroeder and Kate Norris all have 120-plus kills while hitting .270 or better this season. Reihman tops the trio with 172 kills and a .315 hitting percentage.
The RedHawks last two matches have been similar to the Falcons, a five-gamer with Ball State and a sweep by Toledo. However, Miami fell in game five to Ball State unlike the Falcons
Northern Illinois brings an 8-8 record to "the house that roars" on Sunday. The Ray Gooden-coached squad split a pair of matches last weekend against Eastern Michigan (L) and Central Michigan (W). Junior Kate McCullagh leads the MAC in kills with 353, good for 5.98 kills per game. McCullagh also leads the Huskies with 68 blocks.
Falcons Clip the Cardinals
It had been 13 years since the Falcons defeated Ball State until Saturday night's 3-0 sweep of the Cardinals. Head Coach Denise Van De Walle's win over her alma mater snapped a 24-match losing streak to the Cardinals. Four separate Falcons recorded double-digit digs in the defensive effort which helped to end Ball State's 14-match home winning streak.
Senior Ashlei Nofzinger and sophomore Stephanie Swiger led the Falcons offense with a combined 23 kills. Swiger also tagged three blocks while hitting .381 (11-3-21). And freshman Meghan Mohr connected on a booming kill that sealed the deal for the Falcons.
Falcons Soar in Brooklyn
BGSU was the runner up at the BlackBird Classic in Long Island with their second consecutive 2-1 weekend.
The Falcons were defeated by eventual tournament champ, Long Island-Brooklyn in their opening match. The Falcons took game two 30-24. Back-to-back kills by redshirt freshman Kendra Halm and Senior Ashlei Nofzinger sealed the deal for the Falcons. Unfortunately, the Falcons were then downed 3-1.
However, BGSU stormed back on Saturday by double dipping in the wins column with victories over Georgia Southern and Weber State.
Nofzinger finished off the Eagles with a match-clinching kill set up by sophomore Stephanie Swiger to take game three 30-26. While Swiger and redshirt sophomore Corrie Mills' 13 kills paced the offense, sophomore Maggie Karges' 13 digs were tops on the defensive side of the net.
The Brown and Orange escaped a two games to none deficit with a late-game surge. The Falcons pulled off a 30-27 win despite trailing 24-19 in game two. After splitting games three and four, the Falcons were headed for a intense game-five affair.
The Falcons offense was stellar in game five, hitting a .320 percentage. Nofzinger's three kills, including the finishing touch led the Falcons to a 15-13 victory. Five separate Falcons recorded double-digit kills against Weber State. Redshirt freshman Kendra Halm's nine blocks mark a new career-high for the Bucyrus, Ohio native. Sophomore Madeline Means also set a new career-high with her 12 kills.

Pair of Falcons Reach Career Milestones
Senior Emily Manser and sophomore Stephanie Swiger each surpassed a career milestone at the BlackBird Classic. Manser's 23 kills jolted her past 500 career kills while Swiger eclipsed the 100-block plateau in her two years sporting the Brown and Orange.
Race For 1,000
Senior Emily Manser and junior Chrissy Gothke have the opportunity to accomplish something very special this season. Manser has recorded 880 digs for her career in the Brown and Orange, while Gothke has posted 975 digs in her Falcons career. If the pair of Falcons were to both reach 1,000 digs during the 2005 campaign they would become only the second duo to accomplish the feat in the same season after Tammy Schiller and Lisa Mika both surpassed 1,000 digs in 1991.
