CollegeHockeyNews.com - Fresh off a 3-0-0 week, including wins over #12 Colgate and a pair of victories over #16 Ohio State, the BGSU Falcons have been named College Hockey News' Team of the Week. The Falcons had two shutouts this past week, the first time since the 1977-78 season.

On Tuesday the Falcons recorded a 4-0 win over Colgate, getting goals from four different players and a shutout by Jon Horrell, the first of his career.
On Friday, the Falcons upset Ohio State 3-2 in Columbus, Ohio, for their first win over the Buckeyes since Oct. 26, 2001. Sophomore Derek Whitmore recorded the game-winner with just 1:44 remaining in the third period, while Horrell turned-aside 38-of-40 OSU shots.
The following night the Brown and Orange shutout the Buckeyes 2-0 behind stellar defensive plays, as well as key saves by Horrell. For the night Horrell recorded 23 saves. With the win, the Falcons recorded their first weekend sweep of Ohio State since March, 1999.
In the three games the Falcons averaged 3.0 goals per game, while surrendering only 0.67 goals a game. The Falcons power play scored one goal in each of the three games on 21 total tries (.143), but shutdown the opposition on all 18 attempts they had.
The Falcons, who are currently on a six-game win streak, play a home-and-home with Western Michigan this week, with the Falcons hosting Friday night's contest at 7:05 p.m.
