Bowling Green Takes On Illinois State Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will host a home meet against Illinois State University Redbirds, Saturday January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Eppler Complex.

The Bowling Green State University gymnastics squad knocked off the regular season Mid American Conference champions last Saturday 189.325-187.950. Leading the way for the Falcons was Senior Jessica Guyer who had a third place finish on vault (9.700), a second place finish on beam (9.700) and a first place finish on floor (9.725).
Guyer and Jillian Stranges (9.700) posted the top Falcon performances on vault, while Jholeen Ponce (9.675) took first on the bars. Junior Bethany Kenel won her first Specialist of the Week award for her proformance on the Beam. Stranges (9.675) and Jacquelyn Bernhardt (9.525) would show off their skills on floor and seal the win for the Orange and Brown
A Look At The Redbirds
The Illinois State Redbirds come into this meet 3-2 under their new head coach Bob Conkling. The Redbirds are led by junior Whitney Albright and sophomore Cheryl Berezan. The pair were the lone all-arounders for ISU in 2005.
Last week ISU received their highest team score of the season at 189.425 as they defeated, Southeast Missouri State. Berezan scored her all time personal best on the beam with a 9.650. The last time these two teams met was back in 2001, with BGSU winning 192.250-192.125.
Schedule Reminder
Following the meet with the Redbirds from Illinois State the Falcons will stay at home to face MAC apponate Northern Illinois next weekend at 7:00 p.m., then they will take to the road for five away meets. Then the Falcons will end their season with their last home meet on March 17th at 7:00 p.m. against Eastern Michigan.
