LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Brianne Eisenhard's goal in the second overtime gave the Falcons a 1-0 win over Toledo Thursday afternoon (Oct. 26) at Cochrane Field ... junior Janie Babich and freshman Samantha Bland drew the assists on the goal, which came at the 106:48 mark ... sophomore Christy Zabek made three saves to earn her fifth shutout in six starts this season ... the win clinched a home game for the Falcons in the MAC Tournament's quarterfinal round, and set up a rematch with the Rockets.
THIS SEEMS FAMILIAR...
Only twice in BGSU program history have the Falcons met the same opponent in back-to-back games ... the first time came last year, as BG posted a one-goal win over Toledo in the final regular-season game, then faced the Rockets in the opening round of the MAC Tournament ... again this year, the Brown and Orange posted a narrow one-goal win over the Rockets to end the regular season, setting up a quarterfinal-round match between the arch-rival schools at Cochrane Field ... in the '05 league tourney, the teams battled to a scoreless draw before the Falcons advanced via penalty kicks.
FALCONS IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
BGSU has qualified for the MAC Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and the seventh time in the 10-year history of the program ... prior to the current five-year run, the Falcons had never made the tourney in back-to-back seasons ... the Falcons are the defending back-to-back tournament champions ... the Falcons are 2-0-2 in league tournament home matches ... BGSU enters Sunday's game vs. Toledo with a 5-0-1 record in the quarterfinal round through the years ... the lone tie came last year vs. UT, and the Falcons advanced to the semifinal round via penalty kicks ... the Falcons' all-time game-by-game results follow ...

ABOUT THE FALCONS
BGSU enters Sunday's game with an overall record of 10-9-0, and the Falcons finished MAC regular-season play with a league mark of 7-4-0 ... BG finished in a tie for third place in the final conference standings ... the Falcons tied with Central Michigan, but CMU wins the tiebreaker by virtue of a win in the teams' head-to-head meeting, giving BG the fourth seed for the tourney ... teams earn three points for a win and one for a tie, which meant absolutely nothing this year ... with Mother Nature forcing the cancellation of one regular-season game (the Toledo-at-Buffalo contest of Oct. 13) the final regular-season standings were determined by winning percentage, not total points ... had the point system been used, the Falcons would have finished third outright, as BG had 21 points to Central's 20 in the same number of games ... the 2006 Falcons are on pace to set school record-lows for goals scored and goals allowed in a season ... individually, junior Danielle Cygan leads the Falcons in scoring, with 10 points, while sophomores Brianne Eisenhard and Corbie Yee have eight and seven points, respectively ... all three players have three goals, including two game-winning goals, to tie for the team lead in both categories ... freshman Stacey Lucas has six points on the year, while classmate Faith Juillerat has four ... the BGSU defense has posted a school-record 10 shutouts this year to date ... goalkeepers Christy Zabek and Tiffany Hansen have five shutouts each ... Hansen, a junior transfer in her first season with the Falcons, has started 13 games this year ... she is 5-8-0 with a goals-against average of 1.74 and 53 saves ... Zabek, a sophomore has made six starts, inlcuding each of the last five games, and has a MAC-leading 0.38 GAA and 34 saves ... she is 5-1-0 this fall ... head coach Andy Richards returned 10 letterwinners, including just four starters, from the 2005 team that won the MAC's regular-season and tournament titles.
SOMETHING ALWAYS ON THE LINE WHEN FALCONS MEET ROCKETS
It seems as if something is always on the line when BGSU meets Toledo ... sure, the importance of getting a win over your arch-rival school always exists ... but, the last four games - five, counting Sunday's matchup - have had a great deal at stake ... in 2004, the Falcons and Rockets met in the final regular-season game, and BG and UT entered that match in a tie for ninth place ... with the winner earning a trip to the MAC Tournament, and the loser seeing the season come to an end, the Falcons picked up a 3-0 victory at Scott Park (Oct. 28, 2004) ... that win put BG into the league tourney as the eighth and final seed, and the Falcons proceeded to win three games and the tournament ... exactly one year later (Oct. 28, 2005), BG and UT again met at Scott Park to close the regular season ... this time, the Falcons needed a win to clinch the first regular-season title in school history ... BGSU got that victory, by the slimmest of margins, 3-2, as Falcon goalie Ali Shingler was forced to make a save in the final seconds of the match ... the teams met at Cochrane Field less than a week later (Nov. 1, 2005), in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament ... top-seeded BGSU and eighth-seeded UT battled through 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, before the Falcons advanced to the semifinal round via penalty kicks ... on Thursday (Oct. 26), with BGSU needing a win to clinch a home berth for the league tourney quarterfinals, the Falcons and Rockets again waged a scoreless battle into overtime ... this time, however, a Brianne Eisenhard goal gave the Falcons a 1-0 win in the second OT period.
LIVE STATS ON THE WEB
Sunday's Toledo match, like all of BG's home contests, is scheduled to have live stats on the web ... fans who can't make it to a match at Cochrane Field can get up-to-the-minute statistics on the web via GameTracker, simply by logging on to BGSUFalcons.com.
HEAD COACH Andy Richards
Andy Richards is in his seventh season as a collegiate head coach, all with the Falcons ... the 2005 MAC Coach of the Year, Richards has an overall record of 71-68-12, including a MAC Tournament mark of 8-3-3 ... Richards has led BG to the five finest seasons in school history in his first six years ... that includes the '05 campaign, as he guided the Falcons to the first regular-season title in BG annals and a second-straight MAC Tournament crown ... he has led BGSU to the semifinal round of the league tourney on five occasions, to the championship match four times, and, in 2004, to the first league tourney title and NCAA Tournament berth in school history ... Richards and the Falcons repeated that feat last year, as BGSU again won the MAC Tournament crown ... Erik Burstein is in his first season with the program, while Ashley Wentzel, a co-captain on the 2005 team, is in her first season as a student assistant coach.
THE OPPONENT / THE SERIES
Toledo is 6-8-4 on the season, and the Rockets finished fifth in the final MAC standings with a 5-3-2 league ledger ... UT had gone 3-1-1 in the five games prior to Thursday, before losing the double-OT contest at Cochrane Field ... that stretch included a win over Eastern Michigan (2-1, Friday) and a tie against Central Michigan (1-1, Sunday) last weekend ... the Rockets are 2-7-1 on the road to date, and went 2-2-0 in MAC road matches ... freshman Molly Cornwell leads the team in scoring, with four goals and 13 points on the season ... junior Suzi Siwinski has seven points, including five assists to tie Cornwell for the team lead, while four other Rockets have three goals and six points on the year ... in goal, senior Jen Whipple has played all but three-and-a-half minutes this year, and has a goals-against average of 1.08 and 64 saves ... head coach Brad Evans returned 18 letterwinners, including eight starters, back from last year's team that finished 10-7-2 overall and 5-5-1 in MAC play.
The Falcons lead Toledo, 6-3-2, in the all-time series between the teams, and BGSU is undefeated in the last four meetings with the Rockets ... the Falcons captured last year's regular-season matchup at Scott Park, 3-2, on the last day of the season to clinch the title (Oct. 28, 2005) ... then, just four days later (Nov. 1, 2005), the teams met again in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals at Cochrane Field, and battled to a double-overtime scoreless tie ... BG advanced to the semifinals via penalty kicks ... on Thursday, as mentioned, the Falcons won a 1-0, double-OT decision on a Brianne Eisenhard goal ... that was BG's first-ever home win over the Rockets, giving the Brown and Orange a 1-2-2 record at Cochrane vs. Toledo ... all five of those games have gone to overtime.

THAT WACKY BG-UT SERIES
In 11 series meetings between BGSU and Toledo through the years, the home team has won only twice ... the first such result came in the teams' first-ever meeting, in 1997 ... that game actually was held at the Glass Bowl ... the Falcons picked up a home win over the Rockets on Thursday, and now are 1-2-2 in home games vs. the Rockets - with all five games having gone to overtime - but BG is 5-1-0 all-time in road games vs. the Blue and Gold.
FAMILIAR FACE ON THE OTHER BENCH
Former BGSU women's soccer standout Beth Rieman is in her first season as an assistant coach at Toledo ... Rieman, a 2005 BGSU graduate, was a four-year starter (2001-04) for the Falcons ... the team's captain as a senior in 2004, Rieman helped BGSU to the first MAC Tournament title and NCAA Championships appearance in school history.
