Bowling Green, Ohio - The following are notes after Kent State's 82-66 win at BGSU on Tuesday.
TEAM NOTES
The Falcons still lead the overall series with the Golden Flashes, 77-62.
Bowling Green has now shot better than 50 percent from the floor in seven games this season.
The Falcons have now shot better than 50 percent from beyond the arc in five contests this season. As a team, BGSU is shooting 39.2 percent from long range.
In the two games this year against Kent State, the Falcons shot 47-50 (.930) from the charity stripe.
BGSU has led in every MAC game this season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Martin Samarco once again led the Falcons as he scored 19 points on 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range. It is the seventh time this year that the JC All-American has connected on five or more from downtown. He now has 87 on the season and is in second place on the all-time BGSU single-season list, just two behind Keith McLeod who hit 89 in 2001-02. The Ypsilanti, Mich. native is now connecting on 45.3 percent from deep, second best in the MAC and in the Top 10 nationally.
Mawel Soler posted double-digits for the first time since Jan. 26 at Kent State as he scored 15 points on 6-of-8 from the field. In that game, which the Falcons won 79-74, the senior racked up a career-high 20 points. Tonight, he also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Erik Marschall scored 14 points, his first double-digit scoring effort in MAC play. The freshman from New London, Ohio is averaging 7.0 points per game and has posted double-figures in eight times. Marschall also tied a career-high, making all six of his free throw attempts.
Junior point guard John Floyd added 10 points and six assists while turning it over just once for the Falcons. The Toledo native has scored in double-digits in five of his last seven games and on 13 different occasions this season.
