Bowling Green Tenth After Day 1 of MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Day one of two of the 2006 MAC Championships is completed, as the Falcons sit in tenth place with 11 points. The University of Akron leads the women's side of the meet with 35.5 points, with one day of competition complete and one more to go. On the men's side, Central Michigan leads Eastern Michigan 45 to 43.
Day one featured many preliminary races and a handful of finals. The Falcons had two women finish well in their respective finals.
Jamie Roflow continued her dominance for the Falcons in the distances. She finished in third place in the 5,000-meter run, with a new personal-best time of 16:56. 13. The sophomore is expected to run the 3,000-meter run tomorrow.
Whitney Hartman shocked the home crowd in the women's weight throw on Friday afternoon at the MAC Championships. Seeded as the seventh best thrower, the sophomore and Bowling Green native threw a new personal-best toss by just under four feet, throwing 18.65-meters (61-02.25) to finish fourth in the event. Her new personal-record is only 0.57-meters off the school record.

Saturday's events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the men's long jump, shot put, event # 5 of the heptathlon, and the women's high jump.
