Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University football team will not host Boise State at Perry Stadium in 2006 in a move that allows the Mid American Conference greater flexibility in constructing a schedule for next year. The game was scheduled to be played on September 23. Boise State will come to BGSU in 2007.
"The task of scheduling 12 games in a 13-week window for 12 different teams is next to impossible," said BGSU Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "While we certainly were looking forward to having a team like Boise State come to Bowling Green, we realize that helping the league helps us in the long term."
Boise State will now play at Utah, who was scheduled to host Ohio next season. A new Division IA non-conference opponent for BGSU will be announced when the MAC finalizes the league schedule.
BGSU will open the season September 2 against Wisconsin at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The Falcons also will travel to Florida International on September 16 and to Ohio State on October 7. BGSU is scheduled to host Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Miami in MAC play, while visiting Akron, Ohio, Central Michigan and Toledo.
