Falcons Finish Third in Quad Meet

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The women's track team competed in its final home meet of the season on Friday night as they played host to Central Michigan, Northern Illinois and Toledo in a quadrangular meet. Central Michigan won the meet with 167 points and Toledo followed with 150.50 points. BG finished third with 136.50 points and Northern Illinois rounded out the teams with 102 points.
Despite the third place finish, Bowling Green had some crowning achievements throughout the night.
Bridget Dalic finished third in the 5,000-meters with a time of 18:49.30. Katy Senn finished eighth 20:26.26.
In the 60-meter dash, Jessica White finished second with a time of 7.67 seconds, her best time in the event this season. Nicole Standback also ran in the event and had a time of 7.91 seconds.
Stephanie Hillman, taking a week off from the longer distances, came in fourth in the mile, with a personal-best time of 5:16.04. Kylie Korsnack finished seventh with a time of 5:32.77.
In the 400-meter dash, Lacey Cochran finished in second with a personal-best and season-best time of 57.50.
Lyndi Springer broke her own-school record which she set only three weeks ago. She finished second in the 600-meter run with a new school-record time of 1:35.43. Yamoja Marotta finished fourth with a time of 1:38.33, a personal-best.
Angela Raizis set a new personal-best in the 800-meter run with a new time of 2:20.60, finishing fourth in the event. Megan McAuley finished sixth in the event with a time of 2:24.01.
In the 200-meter dash, White finished second with a time of 25.18 seconds. Cochran finished fifth with a time of 26.38 seconds.
Perhaps the biggest feet of the night was Jamie Roflow and her performance in the 3,000-meter run. She set a PR of nearly 16 seconds, with a time of 9:43.95, only a mere four seconds off the school record and only 6.15 seconds off the provisional qualifications for the NCAA Championships.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Marotta, McAuley, Cochran, and Springer finished third with a time of 4:03.76.
The Falcon field events showed off some great performances as well. The throws were very successfull as Whitney Hartman finished fourth in the weight throw, with a toss of 16.91-meters. Paris Bussey finished fifth with a new personal-best toss of 16.19-meters.
Erica Wilson and the jumpers performed well. Wilson finished third in the long jump, leaping 5.59-meters. Amanda Sefcik finished seventh with a jump of 5.29-meters.
The vaulter, Laura Coy and Stacey Turak, finished third and fourth respectively, with jumps of 3.05-meters and 2.95-meters respectively.
Coy also finished tied for third in the high jump, 1.53-meters.
The women in the shot-put went 1-2-4. Bussey won the event with a toss of 13.82-meters. Dunning finished right behind her with 13.80-meters. Bussey and Dunning set new personal and season-best records in the shot-put. Hartman took home fourth with 13.61-meters.
Head coach Scott Sehmann seemed very impressed with his team.
"I am extremely proud of their individual performances," said Sehmann. "I can see them growing stronger, and as they individually grow stronger, the team will grow stronger. The team placing may not have been where we wanted it to be, but I know that they will continue to improve, just as they have all season long."
With Friday's meet being the last regular home meet of the season. Perry Fieldhouse will see action once more this season, as BGSU plays host to the 2006 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25.
The Falcons head to Findlay to participate in the 2006 All-Ohio Championships next Saturday, February 11.
