BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team dropped to 16-13 overall and 5-4 in the Mid-American conference after a 14-11 loss at Central Michigan. Seven different Falcon hitters recorded at least one RBI in the high-scoring affair.
The Chippewas jumped all over Bowling Green early, gaining an eight-run advantage after the second stanza. Junior Kurt Wells put BGSU on the board with a solo shot in the fourth before Central Michigan was able to score two more runs in the bottom of the inning to increase their lead to nine runs.
Instead of simply packing it in, the Falcons fought back and scrapped their way back into the game, begining with a four-run fifth inning. Senior Tyler Wasserman's single cleared the previously loaded bases to trim the deficit to 10-5. CMU then notched their 11th run in the home-half of the inning.
Trailing 11-5 heading into the seventh, the Brown and Orange cashed in on five runs. Freshman Ryan Shay and Chris Gacom both contributed an RBI-single in the inning. Once again, Central Michigan responded in the home-half of the inning, this time a three-run inning.
A two-out, RBI-single by Junior Josh Dietz in the ninth put the Falcons within three runs. However, the Falcon rally ended the next batter with a groundout to the short stop, handing BGSU a 14-11 loss.
Bowling Green's next scheduled game is Wednesday, April 12th at 3 PM. The Falcons welcome Dayton to Warren Steller Field, a rematch of a game played at Dayon earlier this season. BGSU won the previous contest 6-4 thanks to a grand slam by Sophomore Andrew Foster.
