COLUMBUS, Ohio - The trip to Columbus was well worth it for the women of the Bowling Green track team as they amassed a total of 99 points to finish third at the All-Ohio Championships. The University of Akron won the meet and host Ohio State finished second.
The most striking performances of the day came from junior Jessica White and freshman Takara Dunning. The two qualified for NCAA Regionals in their respective events. White dazzled the crowd by going neck and neck with an Ohio State runner in the 100-meter dash. In the preliminary round, White ran a Regional Qualifying time of 11.61 seconds, the second fastest in school history. The disappointing point comes when the wind was measured above the legal amount to be an NCAA qualifying time. To no avail, White beat out her Ohio State opponent in the finals of the 100-meter dash in a perfectly legal 2.9 wind measurement in an new personal-best time of 11.58 seconds, which was faster than her preliminary round and the second fastest time in school history. In the shot put, Dunning put on a spectacular performance in qualifying for Regionals. She threw a two foot personal-record at 48-06.00, beating out the 2006 Indoor MAC Champion in the shot.

The other All-Ohio Champion Saturday was Stephanie Hillman in the 5,000-meters. In 2005, Hillman was the All-Ohio Champion in the 10,000-meter and just shortened her race for 2006. She crossed the finish line at 18:10.71, racking up 10 points for the Falcons. Other finishes for the Falcons in the 5K were Bridget Dalic, 6th (18:44.30) and Colleen Moran, 8th (18:48.23)--a huge personal-best for the freshman.
BG's lone runner in the 10,000-meter run on Friday night turned out to be very lucrative, as Andrea Pollack finished second with a time of 39:07.00, racking up eight points for the Falcons.
The 100-meter hurdles saw personal-best for junior Nicole Standback who found her groove and crossed the finish line in the finals with a time of 14.18 seconds, finishing in second place.

The 40-degree weather and wind wasn't exactly what the 3,000-meter steeplechasers wanted, but the resilient distance runners, Jamie Roflow and Kim Settle managed to do it all and do it well. Roflow finished third in a time of 11:05.90 and Settle fiished sixth with a time of 11:46.04.
The 4x100-meter relay of Standback, Springer, White and Amanda Sefcik finished fourth with a time of 48.94 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay of Springer, Lacey Cochran, Megan McAuley and Angela Raizis finished seventh with a time of 4:09.06.
The triple jump saw three-year veteran Sharonda Alexander jump a huge personal-best 36-10.25.
Besides Dunning in the shot pout, Whitney Hartman finished eighth at 43-10.50. Hartman also had a sixth place finish in the hammer throw on Friday night with a nine foot personal-best of 174-09.00
In the discus throw, sophomore Lauren Bryant claimed fourth place (140-11.00) and junior Paris Bussey finished sixth (133-04.00).
The javelin throw on Friday night saw junior Andi Bunko claim third place with a toss of 137-04.00, and senior Alyson Lee finish seventh (117-04.)
Overall, the Falcons saw there best performance as a team in a very long time. The Orange and Brown will travel to Toledo Thursday to compete in a triangualr against Toledo and Northern Illinois.
