BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University student-athlete Eric Lawson was honored as a First Team member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) & Rawlings NCAA All-Mideast Region squad on June 13. The selection comes after a junior season in which Lawson led the Falcons in batting average (.355), runs scored (42), hits (66), doubles (14), homeruns (5), slugging percentage (.511) and a MAC-high on-base percentage of .469.
The Milford, Ohio native put together a stretch in which he recorded a hit in 20 of 22 games, inlcuding a six-game span (3/39-4/5) with a .654 average, six RBI and nine runs scored. He also compiled 17 multi-hit games on the year while being named Second Team All-MAC.
"Speaking on behalf of the selection committee, I feel that this year's All-Mideast Region players are very deserving of this recognition," Ohio Head Coach and chairman of the NCAA Mideast Region All-American Committee said. "They head a long list of impressive players and represent a lot of very good teams around the region."
Mid-American Conference schools led all leagues with 10 representatives on the 26-member all-region teams. Seven players came from Big Ten programs while five Horizon League players were honored.
