Miami, Fla. - The following are post game quotes after the Falcons defeated Florida International, 33-28 on Saturday in Miami.
BGSU Coach Gregg Brandon
"Freddie Barnes is a competitor and Anthony Turner is a warrior." Both of those guys demonstrated we can win with them. They both make plays and more importantly, they made them in the clutch."
"We made some big plays in the kicking game. It was great to see (Alonso) Rojas boom a couple and it was nice to see (Sean) Ellis make a couple of field goals. You can see they have talent, they just need to gain confidence and consistency."
"Sanderson had a heck of a game. Dennis Springer and John Lovett have done an outstanding job with the secondary. We played a lot of freshmen back their tonight."
On FIU
"A'mod Ned, we couldn't tackle him. He is a real nice small back. They have now lost three games by seven points. They are a talented football team."
Freshman quarterback Freddie Barnes
"It was up to me to get us the win. The last couple of games Anthony and I have just tried to provide leadership. I like it better when it is the two of us, but it was my job to get us home."
On the BGSU defense
"They played great. They made big stops and gave us an opportunity to put points on the board."
Freshman safety Jerett Sanderson
"We knew we had to protect the end zone and one of us had to make the play. "I was just the lucky one to be there.
On his special teams score
"We talked about it all week that we had to finish on special teams. Making big plays on special teams is something we have to focus on. Without (Loren) Hargrove making that hit, I never would have had that opportunity."
