"Day of Caring" To Bring BGSU Men's Basketball Team to Volunteer on Wednesday

Bowling Green, Ohio - Members of the BGSU Men's Basketball Team will spend an "afternoon of caring" with children and adults with developmental disabilities on Wednesday, September 6.
The activity is one of Wood County United Way's kick-off event for the 2007 fundraising campaign. The purpose of the day is to acquaint community groups with agencies by involving members of the group in volunteer activities.
According to Wood Lane's volunteer coordinator Rose Drain, the players will be divided into a number of groups and assist in all areas of Wood Lane's program.
"I think this is a great educational experience for our players and hopefully this will inspire them to volunteer and give back to their communities throughout their life," said BGSU men's basketball coach Dan Dakich.
The player's schedule and location of activities include:
12:30 p.m. -12:45 p.m.Tour Wood Lane Industries1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Players will volunteer in one of the following areas:
1. BG Community Center: Team members will play volleyball with adults who receive services from Wood Lane.
2. Wood Lane Industries: Players will volunteer with day activities
3. Wood Lane School: Players will volunteer in the classrooms
4. BG City Park or Community Center (depending on weather): players will participate in a variety of games with older adults (55 and older) who receive services from Wood Lane.
