BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team has moved up a notch in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller are ranked 18th in the nation in the latest poll, released Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 9).
BGSU is also ranked 18th in the Associated Press poll, which was announced Monday (Jan. 8). The rankings are the highest for the Falcons -- and for any Mid-American Conference institution -- in history.
This marks the 19th appearance in the USA Today/ESPN poll by a league institution, and Bowling Green has been that team in 16 of the 19 weeks (including 12 weeks under Miller).
The Falcons are 12-2 on the season, and BGSU is 2-0 in MAC play after wins over Akron and Buffalo to open the conference campaign. BG will host Kent State Wednesday evening (Jan. 10) at Anderson Arena, in a rematch of the last two MAC Tournament championship games. Tipoff for Wednesday's game is 7:00 p.m. KSU is tied with BGSU and Miami atop the MAC East, as all three schools sport 2-0 league records.
