Houck, Yee, and Richardson Take Top Honors Against RedHawks

BOWLING GREEN,Ohio - The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving Falcons earned 18 top three finishes, including 6 victories as they fell to the Miami RedHawks, 177-122 at Cooper Pool Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Meg Richardson set a new personal best as she won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.37. Her previous best mark had been 1:08.11. Fellow sophomore Frankie Houck picked up victories in the 50 free, for the second consecutive day, as well as the 100 free. Teammate Sami Jordan took second in the latter event.
Junior Alisha Yee added to her first place finishes, as she notched three more victories over the course of the afternoon. Yee won the 100 back in 58.44, the 200 IM in 2:08.76, and the 200 back in 2:05.30.
In addition, sophomore Chelsea Lopus tallied three second place finishes in the 100 fly, 200 IM and 200 fly. She finished the 200 fly in 2:08.16, just 8 one-hundredths of a second from first place.
Freshman Carrie Enright contributed with a second place finish in the 50 free and a third place nod in the 100 fly.
Bowling Green also placed second in both the 400 IM relay and the 200 free relay. The team of Yee, Lopus, Richardson and Houck finished the 400 IM in 3:57.85. Likewise, Houck, Richardson, Enright, and Jordan swam the 200 free in 1:38.61.
The Orange and Brown will now have 19 days away from competition, as they prepare to travel to Columbus for the Ohio State Invitational. The OSU Invitational is set for Nov.30-Dec.2 at Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
