Five Falcons Garner All-MAC Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - For the second year in a row five Falcons received All-MAC honors. Falcon middle hitters, Senior Stephanie Swiger and junior Kendra Halm were both named first team All-MAC for the second consecutive season. Teammates junior Meghan Mohr and sophomore Corey Domek were named second team All-MAC with freshman setter Sam Fish rounding out the bunch for the Falcons on the All-MAC Freshman squad.
Swiger, was a huge force at the net this season for the Falcons ranking second on the team in kills, hitting percentage, and blocks. Swiger, a Findlay, Ohio native terminated 344 kills hitting a .290 and put up 103 blocks. Swiger's leadership and skills shined as she recorded a career high 22 kills against Valparaiso leading the Falcons to the Best Western Invitational title. She was named MVP of the Best Western Invitational and also received her fourth career MAC East Player of the Week honor. Swiger reached a career milestone this season as she recorded her 1,000th kill against Akron (Oct. 5). This is the second season in a row Swiger has been named first team All-MAC.

Halm, Bucyrus, Ohio native dominated the net once again this season leading the MAC in blocks. Halm leads both the MAC and the Falcons in blocks with 116 blocks averaging 1.23 blocks per game. She also leads the Falcons in hitting efficiency with a .325 hitting percentage which is good for second in the MAC. Halm has terminated 337 kills this season. Halm was named MAC East Player of the Week three times this season (the most of any player in the MAC) including back-to-back weeks (Oct. 8 and Oct. 15), when Halm set a new BGSU record for block assists in a four game match with 11 block assists against Central Michigan (Nov. 12). This is the second season in a row Halm has been named first team All-MAC.
Mohr's versatility as a player was evident this season as a right side hitter and at times sharing in the setting duties for the Falcons with Fish. Mohr, an Elida, Ohio native recorded nine double-double performances including a career high 23 kills against Eastern Michigan (Oct. 13). She terminated 247 kills hitting a .258 third for the Falcons. Mohr has also record 309 assists and 57 blocks.
Domek, a Naperville, Illinois native continued her success from last season leads the Falcons with 375 kills. She ranks 10th in the MAC averaging 3.54 kills per game. Domek has also totaled 41 blocks this season.
Fish, North Branch, Michigan native has made a big impact as a freshman for the Falcons taking over the setting duties and averaging 10.49 assists per game. She ranks sixth in the MAC for assists totaling 1,070 assists this season. Fish also ranks fourth in the MAC and leads the Falcons in service aces with 45 service aces, including a career high eight service aces against Buffalo (Oct. 6). Fish has recorded 25 double-digit assist performances with 21 of them 30 plus assist performances. She recorded a career high 75 assists against Eastern Michigan (Oct. 13).
The Falcons along with #15 Ohio and Miami were represented with five players on the All-MAC teams. The Falcons finished the 2007 season 21-9 overall and 12-4 in the MAC. This season marked the second straight season of 20 plus wins and fourth consecutive winning season. The Orange and Brown finished third in the MAC East Division giving them the #4 seed in the MAC Tournament. The Falcons are set to play Kent State, the #5 seed in the third match of the quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5:00 p.m. at the SeaGate Centre in Toledo, Ohio.
