BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - After winning a pair of road games over the weekend in Nashville, Tenn., the Bowling Green State University Falcons (3-0) returned back to campus with yet another reason to celebrate ...
Per an announcement from the Mid-American Conference office in downtown Cleveland, senior captain Kate Achter has been selected as the league's co-outstanding player in the eastern division for the third time in her career. Amanda Jackson of Miami was also recognized this week.
Achter is the second Falcon in as many weeks to earn the award. Last week, which was also the first possible week for award, junior captain Lindsey Goldsberry won.

While playing in the South, Achter twice scored in double-figures and averaged 21.5 ppg. She also went on to lead the Falcons shooting 87 percent from the free throw line where she was 20-23.
During her time in the Volunteer State Achter grabbed seven rebounds, five of which were defensive, and committed a combined two player fouls in 80 minutes of play.
In Thursday's (Nov. 15) win at Lipscomb, she scored 14 points, including her third career three pointer, while also stealing two Lipscomb passes and blocking a Lady Bison's shot.
In Sunday's (Nov. 18) afternoon victory, Achter had a quiet first-half going a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line, but exploded in the second-half scoring 25 of the Falcons 40 second-half points. In what should be an obvious statement, Achter's 29 points were a game high and also reset her personal best scoring effort.
Her performance at Belmont marked the 10th time in her career in which she has turned in a 20-plus point night and just the second in which she had netted more than 25 points.
For the game, the senior point guard was 15-17 from the line and 7-12 from the field. She also grabbed five rebounds while dishing out six assists.
The Falcons will return to non-conference action against St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. The 7:00p.m. tip-off will serve as game two in a post-Thanksgiving basketball `feast' - the Falcon men's team (3-1) will host Temple in game one with a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
