Our golfers enjoy great amenities like valet bag service, locker room facilities, an expansive practice range, course ambassadors to help speed play, five sets of tees for players of all abilities, and a state-of-the-art drainage system that allows play on days when most other courses are closed.
Scores: Results will be posted daily on bgsufalcons.com in PDF format.
Notes on the team: This will be just the third tournament this spring that the Falcons will have competed in, after last week's Illini Spring Classic was called due to weather. The Falcon Invitational, which is the final tune-up prior to the MAC Championships (April 27-29), will be only the second 54-hole tournament the Falcons have competed in this season. The MAC Championships will also be 54 holes.
Though it will have been more than a month since their latest competition, the Falcons are coming off their best finish of the year, posting a 937 (312-316-309) at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. The 937, not only was their best finish of the season, but it also set a new school record, breaking the mark of 938 set back in 1984.
Individually, the top five Falcon competitors are within two strokes of each other for their spring averages.
Leading the way is senior Kari Liggett and junior Carley Hrusovsky. Both golfers have averaged 80.20 this spring. Liggett has carded three sub-80 rounds this spring, while Hrusovsky has just two sub-80 rounds, but led the team at the Fighting Camel Classic with a 163 (83-80).
Not far off the team lead are Jessica McCann, Lindsey Jonkhoff and Amanda Bader. Jonkhoff is third on the team this spring with an 82.20 average. Her best finish was at the Rio Verde where she led off the tournament with an 86, but rebounded with a 76 and 77 in her final two rounds.
McCann and Bader have both averaged 82.60 through five rounds this spring. McCann was outstanding at the Rio Verde where she finished 49th with scores of 81, 76, 76, while Bader finished with a 245 (79-83-83) at the Rio Verde and 168 (85-83) at the Fighting Camel Classic.
Both freshman, Megan Gormley and Hannah Lambert, will also compete at the Falcon Invitational, with only Gormley's score eligible for the team. Lambert will compete as an individual this week.
Following the Falcon Invitational the next outing for the Orange and Brown will be the 2007 MAC Championships on April 27-29.
