COLUMBUS, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Curt Miller has received yet another honor, as the Bowling Green State University head coach has been named the Columbus Dispatch Ohio Women's College Basketball Coach of the Year. The award, which is the result of voting by the head women's basketball coaches (in all divisions) around the date, was announced in the Sunday (April 22) edition of the newspaper.
Miller was the runaway winner of the award, receiving 23 of the 32 first-place votes in the balloting, and garnering 75 total points overall. Ohio State's Jim Foster finished second in the balloting, with 34 points and seven first-place votes, while Denison's Sara Lee (18 points, one FPV) was third.
The Falcons finished an incredible 31-4 on the season, setting a record for wins in a season by a MAC team, men or women. The Brown and Orange went 15-1 in conference play, winning the regular-season championship for the third consecutive year, then won the MAC Tournament, also for the third-straight season, to advance to the NCAA Championships.
In the NCAAs, BGSU defeated both Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt to become the MAC's first-ever women's team to advance to the 'Sweet 16.' The Falcons finished the season ranked No. 15 nationally, the highest-ever ranking for a MAC women's team in history.
Miller has a head-coaching record of 124-60 in six years, all in Bowling Green, with a MAC mark of 66-30. Over the last four seasons, Miller and the Falcons have gone 103-25 overall and 55-9 in conference action.
