Falcons Off to a Fast Start

OXFORD, Ohio - The Falcons competed in day one of 2007 Outdoor MAC Track and Field Championships held at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The Falcons sit in a comfortable going into day two.
One of the big stories of today's portion of the meet was thrower Lauren Bryant in the hammer. She was seeded 14th going into the event today. She slid her way into tenth to make it to finals. In her last throw, the junior let out a huge throw, going 172-04, setting a new personal best and putting herself fifth all-time at BGSU. The mark, nearly 20-feet past her previous best mark, passes Kerri McClung's 2003 mark of 160-??. Her final mark put the Falcons on the board with a pleasant, but unexpected point.
In the pole vault, Sabrina Forstein finished 13th and tied her personal-best of 10-11.75.
The 10,000-meter race featured Bridget Dalic and Kara Butler. Dalic finished 12th in a time of
Kristin Carver participated in the heptathlon for the Falcons. After four events in day one, she goes into day two in 13th place with 2,674 points.
With only three events scored, Akron leads with 35 points. The Falcons sit in eleventh with one point.

Day two kicks off for the Falcons at 9:30 with the heptathlon long jump. The first running event on the track will be the 4x100-meter relay at noon.
