The Falcons return home after a two week stint on the road to host the Best Western Invitational on Sept. 14-15. The four team tournament will include teams from four different mid-west states. DePaul University from Illinois, Valparaiso University from Indiana, Duquesne University from Pennsylvania, and Bowling Green State University from Ohio.

BEST WESTERN INVITATIONAL MATCHUPS
Falcons vs. Blue Demons
The Falcons will kick off the Best Western Invitational against the DePaul University Blue Demons. The Blue Demons, 4-5, are on a four game winning streak after beating Northern Illinois (3-2) and winning the DePaul Invitational with victories over Samford (3-2), Kennesaw (3-0), and South Alabama (3-0). The Falcons look for their first victory over the Blue Demons with an all-time series record of 0-3.
Falcons vs. Dukes
The Orange and Brown will take on the Duquesne University Dukes. The Dukes are currently 6-4 after the 2007 Fiesta Bowl Tournament. The Dukes beat Louisiana-Lafayette (3-1) and lost to High Point (2-3) and Northern Arizona (1-3). The Falcons lead the all-time series 2-1.
The last meeting between the Falcons and the Dukes took place just a year ago on Sept. 16 in Youngstown, Ohio at the Country Inn & Suites Classic, where BGSU captured the tournament title. The Falcons pulled out a win over the Dukes in a five game match, 3-2.
Falcons vs. Crusaders
The Falcons will finish the Best Western Invitational against the Valparaiso University Crusaders. The Crusaders are 6-2 after the Popcorn Classic where they beat Marshall (3-1) and Western Michigan (3-0) and lost to Indiana (0-3).
The Orange and Brown are undefeated against the Brown and Gold leading the all-time series 2-0.
FALCONS SWEEP THE BEARS
The Orange and Brown finished the Comcast Lobo Tournament with a 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-28) victory over the University of Northern Colorado Bears. The Falcons picked up their first win over the Bears, which they were unable to do in their past two meetings.
The Falcons dominated game one and were able to keep the Bears offense under wraps allowing them to hit a .080 compared to the Falcons .290.
In game two the Bears fought back keeping the score much closer. The Falcons down late in the game 19-20 went on a nine point run with Maggie Karges at the serving line. The Falcons scored 11 of the last 15 points in game two winning, 30-23.
Game three was another close battle between the two teams. The Bears didn't make the win easy for the Falcons as they fought off two game point advantages for the Falcons. The Falcons finished game three with a kill from Corey Domek assisted by Sam Fish for the win, 30-28.
The Falcon offense was led by Stephanie Swiger putting away 16 kills in 29 attempts with only two errors hitting a .483 for the match. Also in double digits for the Falcons were Domek with 12 kills and Kendra Halm with 10 kills. The Falcon defense had three players in the double digits as well with Elizabeth Simon leading the way recording 17 digs followed by Chelsey Meek with 14 digs and Madeline Means with 11 digs. Fish collected 38 assists for the Falcons.
FALCONS FALL TO THE LOBOS
BGSU volleyball lost their second match on Friday (Sept. 7) to host University of New Mexico, 27-30, 29-31, 31-33.
Despite the loss to the Lobos the Falcons had two hitters in double digits. Corey Domek led the way for the Falcons with 13 kills hitting at .310 for the match. Kendra Halm was right behind her with 12 kills hitting a .276. Sam Fish ran the offense for the Falcons with 36 assists. Chelsey Meek led the defense with 15 digs.
FALCONS LOSE TO GONZAGA, 3-2
The Falcons dropped their opening match of the Comcast Lobo Invitational to the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Friday (Sept. 7), 30-25, 30-28, 19-30, 18-30, 9-15.
Despite the loss sophomore Corey Domek led the Falcons with 21 kills hitting a .385 for the match. Senior Madeline Means added 13 kills and 14 digs to pick up her fifth double-double of the season. Senior Stephanie Swiger also contributed 10 kills to the offensive efforts. Sam Fish ran the Falcon offense recording 46 assists. Chelsey Meek once again led the defense with 22 digs.
ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS FOR THE FALCONS
Corey Domek and Stephanie Swiger were named to the Comcast Lobo Invitational All-Tournament team after a strong performance by both this weekend.
Domek led the Falcons offense in the match against Gonzaga and New Mexico. She recorded 21 kills and hit a .385 against Gonzaga and 13 kills and hit .310 against New Mexico. For the weekend Domek totaled 46 kills hitting a .344, 48.5 points, six digs and four blocks at the Comcast Lobo Invitational. Domek leads the Falcons offense this season totaling 129 kills with a .309 hitting percentage. Domek was also named to the Dayton Flyer Classic All-Tournament Team earlier this season.
Swiger led the Orange and Brown's offense in their 3-0 victory against Northern Colorado. She put away 16 kills with only two hitting errors for a .483 hitting percentage. Swiger was also in double digits on offense against Gonzaga with 10 kills. For the weekend Swiger totaled 32 kills hitting a .296, the second highest for the Falcons this weekend. Swiger also recorded 40.5 points, 15 blocks, seven digs, and two assists this weekend at the Comcast Lobo Invitational.
FALCONS IN MAC LEADER BOARD
Three veteran Falcons have found themselves among the top 10 leaders in the MAC. Sophomore Corey Domek is fifth in hitting percentage with a .312 and ninth in kills with a total of 129 averaging 3.69 per game. Senior Stephanie Swiger is ninth in the standings for hitting percentage with a .279 totaling 104 kills so far this season. Junior Chelsey Meek is fourth in the MAC for digs with 207 averaging 5.59 per game.
MEANS EQUALS DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Madeline Means has been busy on both ends of the court this season. Means recorded her third consecutive double-double on Sept. 7 against Gonzaga, totaling up five for the season so far. Against Gonzaga Means terminated play for 13 kills and collected 14 digs.
BGSU INVITATIONAL HISTORY
The Falcons have hosted six volleyball invitationals at Anderson Arena. The Falcons have placed first or second in all of the BGSU invitationals with three first place finishes and three second places finishes.
FALCONS OPEN MAC PLAY
After three weeks of non-conference competition, BGSU volleyball will open Mid American Conference play on the road against Miami (Ohio), Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
