BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The BGSU volleyball team will host their final two home matches of the 2008 regular season this weekend, both crucial matches in the race for the Mid-American Conference East Division and MAC Tournament seeding. The Falcons will open the weekend against Buffalo on Friday (Nov. 14) at 7:00 p.m. The Orange and Brown will then end the `08 campaign against Akron Saturday (Nov. 15) as they honor the senior trio Meghan Mohr, Chelsey Meek and Kendra Halm, in their last home match of the season in a post-match ceremony.

THIS WEEKEND'S MATCH-UPS
Falcons vs. Bulls • (11/14 • 7:00 p.m.)
The Falcons will start of their last weekend of the 2008 regular season against East Division foe Buffalo ... the Bulls are currently 6-22 overall and 1-13 in the MAC after dropping two matches last week ... the Bulls fell to Akron (0-3) and Toledo (1-3) ... the Falcons lead the Bulls 16-1 in their all-time series and are undefeated, 9-0 in the series at Anderson Arena with their only loss to Buffalo taking place on Oct. 2003 when the Falcons lost the match in five sets ... the Falcons are on a seven match winning streak against the Bulls ... the last meeting between the two teams was earlier in the season when the Falcons defeated the Bulls, 3-1 on the road (Oct. 11).
Falcons vs. Zips • (11/15 • 3:00 p.m.)
The Falcons will wrap-up the 2008 regular season against Akron ... the Zips are currently 11-14 overall and 5-9 in the MAC ... this past weekend the Zips went 2-0 sweeping Buffalo (3-0) and defeating Ball State (3-2) ... the Falcons lead the Zips 25-11 in the all-time series and 12-6 in the series at Anderson Arena ... the Orange and Brown are on a nine match winning streak against the Zips winning 11 of their last 15 meetings ... the last meeting between the two teams was earlier this season when the Falcons defeated the Zips, 3-2 on the road (Oct. 10).
FALCONS HONOR SENIOR TRIO
The Falcons will honor the senior trio Meghan Mohr, Chelsey Meek and Kendra Halm, as they end the `08 campaign against Buffalo Saturday (Nov. 15) in the last home match of the season. The Falcons will honor the senior trio in a post-match ceremony. Mohr, Meek and Halm are one of the most decorated senior classes in program history with an overall record of 86-38 (.694), including four winning seasons and three consecutive 20-plus win seasons. Combined they have also accumulated 12 All-Tournament selections including two MVPs, six MAC East Division Player of the Week awards, three All-MAC honors, two Academic All-MAC honorees, one Freshmen All-MAC squad member and one ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honoree.
MEEK CHASES DOWN MAC HISTORY
Falcon libero Chelsey Meek has amassed 2,192 career digs hundreds of digs past the former BGSU record as she became the first Falcon to record 2,000 career digs. Meek continues to chase down history this time on the heels of the Mid-American Conference career dig record, 2,273 digs held by Stephanie Keller from Ball State. Meek is only 81 digs shy of tying the record with two regular season matches and the MAC Tournament left.
MEEK NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
Senior libero Chelsey Meek was named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Women's Volleyball third team, announced by CoSIDA (Nov. 6). Meek is one of three Mid-American Conference players to earn Academic All-District honors this season. The Bowling Green, Ohio native is an early childhood education major with a 3.82 GPA. Meek is currently ranked 27th in the nation and second in the MAC in digs compiling a team high 568 digs averaging 4.98 digs per set this season thus far.
FALCON NETTERS ROLL ALONG WITH 20 W'S
The Falcon netters have won seven of their last eight matches including their sweep over Miami (Oct. 30) and five set win over Western Michigan (Nov. 1). The Falcons victory over the Broncos marked their 20th win of the season and third straight season of 20-plus wins. The Orange and Brown have won 11 of their last 13 matches.
FISH REELS IN DOUBLE-DIGITS
Sam Fish has reeled in eight double-doubles this season all of which have come during MAC play, including four consecutive matches of double-double performances (Oct. 3, 4, 10 & 11). Fish recorded her first double-double of the season in the Falcons' MAC opener against Miami (Sept. 25). She dished out 38 assists while also recording 11 digs. Fish has ran the offense in all 27 of the Falcons matches this season thus far recording double-digit assist performances in every match with a season high of 59 in the Falcons win over the Broncos.
86 AND COUNTING...
Chelsey Meek set a new record as she posted her 81st consecutive match of 10-plus digs with 25 digs against Ball State (Oct. 24), now the longest streak of all-time in nation as well as the longest streak of any active player. Meek has continued to extend her streak now with 86 consecutive matches of 10-plus digs after picking up 22 digs against Ohio (Nov. 8).
Kendra Halm STUFFIN'
With Thanksgiving a month a way Kendra Halm got into the spirit early this year as she stuffed yet another hitter to record her 414th career block assist setting a new BGSU career record. Halm has amassed 433 career block assists surpassing Lori Kemerer (1996-99) and Lisa Mika (1988-91), whom previously held the BGSU record with 413 block assists.
MEEK CONTINUES TO DIG HER WAY TO THE TOP OF THE NATION
Senior libero Chelsey Meek, continues to dig her way to the top of the nation, now the 27th ranked player in the nation in digs. Meek leads the Falcons and is second in the MAC with 568 digs, averaging 4.98 digs per set. Meek earned her third consecutive All-Tournament honors at the Best Western Invitational after leading the Falcon defense with 66 digs, averaging 6.60 digs per set. Meek has led the Falcon defense the entire season thus far posting double-digit dig performances in all 29 of the Falcons' matches, including 14 matches with 20-plus digs with a season high 28 three times.
FALCON BIG GUNS
The Falcon offensive attack is led by three big guns, Kendra Halm, Meghan Mohr and Corey Domek. Halm has recorded 20 matches of double-digits kills, also including a 10-match double-digit kill streak as well as terminating double-digits in seven of the last 10 matches. Mohr has recorded double-digit kills in 18 matches, including a 10-match double-digit kill streak and is currently on a four-match streak of double-digit kills. Domek has recorded 17 matches of double-digits kills. Combined the three big guns have recorded 977 kills this season thus far, over two-thirds of the Falcons' kills.
FALCONS AGAINST THE MAC
The Falcons own seven of 11 all-time series records against Mid-American Conference opponents. BG leads four of the five MAC East division opponents including Akron (25-11), Buffalo (16-1), Kent State (42-18) and Ohio (41-22). The only East division foe that leads the Falcons is Miami (24-36). In cross-over play the Falcons lead three of the six West opponents, including Central Michigan (24-20), Eastern Michigan (28-21) and Toledo (48-12). Ball State (15-34), Northern Illinois (8-20) and Western Michigan (17-31) all lead the Falcons.
ONE GRAND AND MAC POW
Corey Domek was named MAC East Division Player of the Week after helping the Falcons to back-to-back wins over both the MAC East and West Division leaders, Miami and Western Michigan. This is Domek's first career MAC East POW selection. Domek terminated a team high 33 kills averaging 4.00 kills per set and posting a .333 hitting percentage on the week, much higher than her average hitting percentage in MAC play (.243). She led the Falcons in a come from behind win over MAC leader, WMU with a career and match high 25 kills, a .380 hitting percentage and a 50 percent kill ratio (25 kills in 50 attempts). Domek's spectacular performance at the net against the Broncos also included a career milestone as she terminated her 1,000th career kill to end the fourth set for the Falcons, becoming the 15th player in BGSU history to accomplish such a feat. Domek then went on to have a perfect performance in the fifth set pounding six kills with no errors in 11 attempts hitting an impressive .600. She also complied a team high 33.5 points, three blocks, two assists and a dig on the week.
FALCONS KNOCK OF THE LEADERS OF THE MAC
The Falcons had one of their best weeks of the season defeating MAC Division leaders, Miami 3-0 (East) and Western Michigan 3-2 (West) in back-to-back matches. The Falcons not only defeated both teams but also held Miami (.143) and WMU (.199) to their lowest hitting percentages in MAC play, well below their season (MU .239, WMU .245) and conference averages (MU .249, WMU .251). BG posted two impressive hitting percentages with a season high .411 against Miami and .303 against WMU, both well above Miami's and WMU's average opponent hitting percentage. The Orange and Brown started off the week with a sweep over the RedHawks to create a three way tie for first in the East Division. The Falcons then came back from a 0-2 deficit to defeat the Broncos, 3-2 as junior Corey Domek recorded a career and match high 25 kills, which included her 1,000th career kill becoming the 15th member of the BGSU 1,000 kill club.
FALCON OFFENSE CRUSHES REDHAWKS, 3-0
The Falcons' offense was firing on all cylinders as they crushed the Miami RedHawks, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) Thursday evening (Oct. 30). The BGSU netters hosted Pack the House, Pink Out Night, to help create awareness for breast cancer and gave nearly 700 fans a spectacular match to watch. The Falcons' posted a season high .411 hitting percentage averaging 16 kills per set three kills more than their season average while stifling the RedHawk offense posting a .143 hitting percentage, their fourth lowest of the season and lowest in the MAC play, way below their .239 season average.
SHARP SHOOTIN' SHARI
Sophomore Shari Luther picked apart the RedHawks in the Falcons' sweep on Oct. 30 as she posted a perfect performance at the net with nine kills and no errors in 15 attempts good for a career high .600 hitting percentage. She was also a weapon at the net on defense leading the Falcons with six blocks. Luther came right back against the Broncos posting yet another perfect performances with seven kills and no errors in 16 attempts also leading the Falcons with four blocks.
"MOHR" DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Meghan Mohr continues to double-up for the Falcons on offense and defense. Mohr has recorded eight double-doubles on the season thus far. During the Best Western Invitational she recorded double-doubles in back-to-back matches. Mohr first posted 11 kills and 11 digs against Binghamton in the 2008 season opener, followed by 17 kills and 13 digs against Rice recording her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season.
"FALCON-TOBER"
The month of October has been a successful month for Head Coach Denise Van De Walle and the Falcons. The Falcons have posted a 150-106 record in month of October since 1983 with a .586 winning percentage. The Orange and Brown have opened the month of October with a victory for the last three years in a row. Last year the Falcons opened October with a sweep over IPFW which led to an 8-1 record for the month of October. The Falcons opened October this season with a two-plus hour battle, which marked the Falcons first win over the Bobcats in the past 12 match-ups between the East Division opponents. The Falcons recorded their third straight successful October with only one loss (9-1) finishing the month with a crucial sweep over Miami (Oct. 30).
