CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced the 2008 Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team Wednesday (March 19), and Bowling Green State University standout Jamie Roflow was one of four student-athletes to repeat from last year's list.
In fact, Roflow earns the honor for the fourth consecutive year. Combined with a pair of similar awards for cross country, Roflow now has earned no fewer than six Academic All-MAC selections.
To qualify for the honors, the student-athlete must excel in academics and athletics, and must have at least a 3.2 GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's contests for their particular sport. Other repeat honorees from last year include, Tina Villa (Buffalo), Kristina Bolterstein (Miami), and Carime Reinhart,(Ohio).
Roflow, a senior distance runner from Cincinnati, holds a 3.74 GPA as an accounting major. Her accomplishments during this year's BGSU indoor track and field season include holding the Falcons' best time in the 5,000 meter run: She finished second in the 5,000 meter run at the BGSU Invite with a time of 17:25.18.
Roflow holds the Falcons' best time in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:01.32, which was good enough to place her first in the event at the BGSU Quad. She ran her second-best time in the 3,000 meter run at the MAC Championships, with a 10:02.55, finishing fifth in the event. Additionally, she owns the team's two best times in the one mile run with times of 5:05.31 and 5:08.31. Roflow finished first in the event at the BGSU Challenge and seventh at the All-Ohio Championships.
