BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior Chelsey Meek is the third of the eight Falcon returnees to spread her wings letting Falcon fans get to know her better. Meek is a Bowling Green, Ohio native, majoring in early childhood education. She became the best digger in BG history last season as she set the BGSU record for career digs (1,624), digs in a season (629), digs per game in a season (5.62) and digs in a five game match with a career high 38 digs against Eastern Michigan (10/13/07). Meek is only the second player in BGSU history to hold all of the dig records. In her junior season she was named to the Academic All-MAC team, the Holiday Inn Buena Park Titan Classic All-Tournament team and the Best Western All-Tournament team. Meek finished her junior campaign ranked third in the MAC in digs (629, 5.62 digs per game) and 34th in the NCAA for digs, also making three appearances on the AVCA 30-dig club list (34 digs vs. Dayton 8/25/07, 32 digs vs. Valparaiso 9/15/07, and 38 digs vs. Eastern Michigan 10/13/07)
What are two things most people don't know about you?
I sleep with my socks on and my first pet was a goldfish named Paperclip.
What's your favorite food? Favorite restaurant in BG?
This is an easy one. Trotters in Bowling Green. You have to get the Little Brown Jug steak!
If someone were to make a movie of your life, which actress would you want to play you?
I would want Kate Hudson to play me, because she seems really down to earth and fun.
Who has had the biggest impact on your life so far? And how?
My parents. They are both my best friends. They have been there to support me through every turn in my life. I would have never been able to play in college if it wasn't for my parents pushing me and supporting me from the beginning. Every game I play, I play for them.
What do you see yourself doing after you graduate from BG?
I plan on finding a teaching job and getting more involved in coaching volleyball. I'm not sure where I will be living, but I'm excited to see where my future takes me.
What are your goals for the spring season and for next year?
Individually I want to get as many digs as possible and be a great team leader. As a team we just need more experience playing together and I'm really excited to see how we improve throughout the spring.
If you could have any job in the world, what would be your dream job?
I would love to be an actress in Hollywood. I think that would be the life!
What is your favorite place on campus?
The Union because you can always see people you know there.
What is one item that you couldn't live without?
My cell phone! I feel lost with out it.
What are you looking forward to about your senior year?
I can't believe that I am a senior! I am going to try to make every moment count and make the best of my senior year. We have a great group of girls on the team right now and I want to focus on having another 20 plus win season. I know all of us girls want to win the MAC and I would love to end my career with a ring on my finger. I will do all that I can do to make sure that happens.
