Falcons Take Second Place at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio - With just four meets left before the MAC Championships, the BGSU women's track and field team continued their successful outdoor season. The Falcons completed their third outdoor meet of the season with the Miami Team Challenge coming to a close today. Miami took first place with 212 points. BGSU finished a distant second with 92 points. Buffalo (88.50), Ohio (80), and Dayton (74) round out the top five performing teams. BGSU finished the day with eleven top five finishes, including three first place finishes.

Top Performances From Miami
Shantell Lewis finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.25, which was just .06 seconds off the pace of second. Lewis' continued her successful day when she posted a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash. Her time of 25.96 was just .96 seconds from placing her second in the event.
Carly Bates contributed ten points to the Falcon's total with her first place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.12.
Heather Conger added a top five finish to her resume with her fifth place finish in the 800 meter run. Conger's time of 2:17.42 was just a half a second from placing her first in the event.
Lyndi Springer posted a time of 11:36.01 which was good enough to place her second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Barbara Powers added a sixth place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
The 4x100 meter relay team continued their success on the season with their second place finish in the event.
Sabrina Forstein was the lone score for the Falcons in the pole vault. Forstein's high mark of 11-01.75 placed her fourth in the event.
Lauren Bryant took second place in the discus throw with a mark of 145-08 feet. She also had a third place finish in the hammer throw which took place Friday.
Whitney Hartman's throw of 137-02 feet placed her sixth in the discus. Hartman also qualified for the NCAA Regional's with her performance in the hammer throw. Her mark of 181-04 placed her first in the event.
TaKarra Dunning was the lone score for the Falcons in the shot put. Dunning took first place with her throw of 47-06.50. Dunning's performance also qualified her for the NCAA Regionals.
