Former Falcon icer Dan Sexton has been recalled by the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL.
Former Falcon Called to NHL Service for Anaheim Ducks

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- After spending the beginning of the 2009-10 hockey season between the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL) and the Manitoba Moose (AHL), former Falcon forward Dan Sexton was called to service with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
Sexton, who played with the Falcons for two seasons (2007-09), was recalled to the Ducks on Friday and activated to play in that evening's game at the Minnesota Wild. In his first professional hockey game, an Anaheim 5-4 shootout victory, Sexton played thirteen minutes in the contest
.
Before being recalled by Anaheim, Sexton was with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) where he played in five games. In his time with the Moose, he scored one goal and two assists and finished with a plus-two on-ice rating.
The Apple Valley, Minn. native signed a professional contract with the Ducks after playing the 2008-09 season with the Falcons and participated in Anaheim's training camp before being reassigned to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. After a short time with the Rampage, Sexton was relocated to the Ducks ECHL affiliate, Bakersfield Condors.
While with the Condors, Sexton was the team's leading scorer in the 18 games he played with the team. During that time, Sexton recorded team-highs in goals (13) and points (26) while also tallying 13 assists. He also had an on-ice rating of plus-8 at the time of his assignment to Manitoba on Nov. 24. Sexton's 26 points still rank fifth among ECHL league leaders and his 13 goals are tied for second. He earned ECHL Player of the Week honors for Nov. 16-22 after posting a 5-4--9 line and helping lead Bakersfield to a 4-0-0 week.
Bowling Green interim head coach Dennis Williams commented on Sexton's call up after the Falcons' game on Friday night. “I'm really happy for him [Sexton]. He worked hard here. Dan was a tremendous player to coach and I don't think it could have happened to a better person.”
In two seasons with the Falcons, Sexton finished with 24 goals, 36 assists (60 points) and 18 multiple-point games in his collegiate career. In 2007-08, he scored seven goals and recorded 14 assists. He led the team in short-handed goals (3) and shared the team-lead for unassisted goals (2). In 2008-09, Sexton led the team in goals (17), assists (22) and points (39) with 24 PIM. He was tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (3) and finished second on the Falcons roster with five power-play goals and two short-handed goals. Sexton had at least one point in 24 games during the 2008-09 season with three multiple-goal games en route to earning All-CCHA Honorable Mention honors.
