Falcons Fall Short at CMU Quadrangular

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Falcons face formidable conference competition in their first road meet of the season. The women would place fourth overall in Mount Pleasant.
"Overall, this was not the best day on the track." said head coach Cami Wells, "We need to focus on getting healthy and meet preparation."
At the Central Michigan University Quadrangular the Falcons were plagued by illness. Due to the flu and other viruses Wells would make the decision to leave seven athletes at home.
The field athletes would be the silver lining for Bowling Green State University. The women would record three first place finishers out of their seven scoring athletes.
Senior Whitney Hartman would lead the way by continuing her winning streak in the weight throw, with a toss of 17.80 meters. Hartman would also place second in the shot put throwing 13.27 meters.
"Whitney had a good solid day overall and has been consistent week to week," said Wells.
In the shot put senior TaKarra Dunning would earn a first place victory throwing the shot 14.84 meters. She continued her solid performance for the Falcons by also placing fourth in the weight throw, 15.20 meters.
"She has been dealing with an illness but has continued to be consistent," said Wells.
Sabrina Forstein, senior, would record her second consecutive victory in the pole vault. Forstein would vault 3.50 meters beating out Shari Harmon, University of Toledo, by a .15 of a meter.
In track events, sophomore Rachel Doughty would score the most points for BGSU with eight point overall. Doughty would place fifth in the 60 meter hurdles, 9.37 seconds, and 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.87 seconds.
Junior Danielle Thornton would run a time of 1:41.23 in the 600 meter run. Thornton would be the second highest scorer for track earning six points.
At the end of competition, CMU would place first overall with 170 points. They would be followed by the University of Toledo (130 points), Northern Illinois (109.5) and BGSU (101.5).
"We are looking forward to regrouping and getting ready for the All-Ohio Championships," said Wells.
The Falcons next compete next at the All-Ohio Championships on Feb. 13-14 at the University of Findlay.
