Moore A Nominee For National Humanitarian Award

BOWLING GREEN, OHIO - Bowling Green State University junior hockey player Brian Moore has been named a nominee for the Bank of New York Mellon Hockey Humanitarian Award, it was recently announced on the Humanitarian Award Foundation web site (www.hockeyhumanitarian.org).
Moore, a native of Carmel, Ind., was one of 21 nominees who are now being considered for the list of finalists. That will be released in the middle of February with the award presented to the winner in a ceremony April 10 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with the 2009 NCAA Frozen Four.
The BGSU defenseman, who has played in 19 games this season, is being considered for the award after taking a mission to Haiti with a group of people from an organization in Bowling Green last summer (2008). The trip was taken in hopes of making a bleak situation for many people a little brighter by passing out food, clothing and other needed essentials that the people would probably have gone without.
Will Bruce, from Williams College, was the 12th recipient of the award last year.
