Swimming Team Enjoys Record Breaking 2009 Campaign

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team set 12 school records, had three All-MAC performers, and four Academic All-MAC honorees during the 2008-09 season.
The Falcons shattered school records throughout the year, including breaking five relay school records. As well, Meg Richardson set school records in the 50 and 100 freestyle, while Vicky Yu set a record in the 200 butterfly and tied teammate Sarah Burston for the 100 butterfly mark. Amanda Rom took down the best time in program history in the 100 breaststroke and Alisha Yee set a new record in the 200 backstroke.
The relay teams set new marks in the 200 and 400 medley relay, as well as the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle relays.
With so many school records being set, it was only natural that a handful of swimmers would also receive postseason awards. Yu was a first team All-MAC honoree, while Yee and Burston were named to the second team. Burston was also an Academic All-MAC performer, while Richardson, Liz Harper, and Chelsea Kazmierski were named honorable mention Academic All-MAC.
At the end of season banquet, team awards were handed out as well. Yee was named the team's Most Valuable Swimmer/Diver and Katie Womack was the Most Improved Swimmer/Diver. Kazmierski received the Falcon Pride Award and Richardson earned the Relay "Throw Down" Award as part of four of the five record breaking relay teams.
